100 Days

Autumn and Logan had their 100th Day for school yesterday. The teachers make a big deal about it.

Autumn had to work on a project to take in. She decided on using the dot paints and was trying to make a rainbow. After it was finished we decided it didn't look like a rainbow, instead it looked like lots of worms or caterpillars. I asked Chad to help her finish by putting eyes and legs on the dots to make 10 caterpillars.

Logan comes running to the bathroom to inform me that "daddy had turned it into 1 BIG caterpillar!" At first Autumn wasn't too thrilled with what happened but we didn't have time to make another one. Chad pointed out the positives and before long Autumn has a happy girl again. Thats how she is....she moves on quickly and doesn't pout around.

She was pretty proud of her 100 dots she made and got to tell the kids at school how she did it, how each row has 10 dots, and she did them in a pattern. At school they counted to 100 by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. They read books about 100th day, sang songs and had to write 100 words as a class. Autumn got to write her name and the color yellow. They also had 100 M&Ms and brownies. "A special treat" according to Autumn.

Logan's day was a little more low-key. It was also his Read In Day so he got to take a blanket/pillow/books/and stuff animal and they read most of the day. He LOVED it. They had special treats as well and even had Hot Coco!

(I love finding their toys like this...ready to battle)

He had to take in 100 items of the same thing to count. He was searching all through the house and thought it would be pretty easy. He counted his army men but only had 43. His baseball cards totaled 82. He didn't want to take Legos or cars so I suggested a puzzle. He has a few that contains 100 pieces. Did you know that there is actually 104 pieces in those boxes. He didn't want to take 4 pieces out but finally found 1 puzzle that had 100 exactly.

Logan's class made these cool 100th day glasses to wear to lunch. He was pretty proud of them. When asking about his day he said that all the kids in the lunch room laughed at his class because they had their glasses on. It hurt his feelings. Thats Logan for you.

We used to celebrate 100 days of school until we moved to NM! Poor Dorothy never got to know those joys.
