Easter Sunday

Happy Easter Everyone! Logan woke the house up this morning around 7:00 since he remembered the easter bunny was suppose to have come. As we all rounded the corner we heard oh yeah baby, I got a Scooby basket. He had been eyeballing one for awhile and then when we went on a hunt for one we could only find 1 left. He thought for sure he wasn't going to get one. It has a skateboard, Frisbee, cones, and water bottle in it. Autumn was a bit disappointed with her basket. She really wanted a Scooby one as well. Autumn got a hat and a purse, not nearly as cool as Logan's. At least she got something. Sicily only got a book and a dinosaur egg. She loves them both, especially since she can chew on them. She has 2 top teeth trying to come through and I'm pretty sure the bottom ones are bugging her. She is a very unhappy camper.

After the excitement with the easter baskets, we had breakfast and then got out the eggs to decorate. We had too much going on yesterday to even think about it. It also helped make the time go by before church.

The kids clean up real nice don't you think? I had to tackle Logan to cut his hair, torture Autumn with the famous sponge rollers and Sicily, well, we hope the hair comes in faster. Church was very nice. I loved the songs our choir sang, and the talks were really good. I actually got to listen until the last 10 minutes. Like I said Sicily is a grouch right now.

This weekend has flown by. The kids and I had a primary activity yesterday that I had to put together, then with the whole Easter stuff, prepare a lesson for Sharing Time, and now I need to get dinner ready. I am ready for bed and have eaten myself silly with too much sweets. And we didn't even get very much. I guess that will help me out the rest of the week. :)

Anyway, we hope everyone had a great easter. I'll post a recipe for you to try. It teaches about the Resurrection of Christ where a kid can understand. My primary kids were amazed.

Resurrection Rolls

Crescent rolls

melted butter

large marshmallows

cinnamon

sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Give each child a triangle of crescent rolls. The crescent roll represents the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in.

Give each child a marshmallow, this represents Jesus. Have them dip the marshmallow in melted butter, which represents the oils of embalming. Then

dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar which represent the spices used to anoint the body.

Then wrap the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll up, but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow

inside.) This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after death.

Place in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. The oven represents the tomb.

When the rolls have cooled slightly, the children can open their rolls (cloth) and discover that Jesus is no longer there, He is risen. (The marshmallow and the crescent roll is puffed up, but empty.)

NOTE about Resurrection Rolls: I had problems the first time I made them. I re-did them last night and they worked. What I did was I cut the large marshmallow in half. Then instead of baking them on a cookie sheet I put them into cupcake papers and baked them in the muffin tin. They worked MUCH better and they were hollow inside. When I did it the first way with the whole marshmallow and on a cookie sheet, they oozed marshmallow everywhere and were not hollow).
